Let us talk about our personal goals. We started by working to do what we had to do, and we changed to stay on track and meet our targets. We have grown to understand that each day starts another week, and every week begins another month. So we know that each day is a new opportunity to work to get closer and closer to our chosen destination. Each hour we have another chance to start over. Each minute rewards us with extra time to look closer, stop to think and see how much better our life has become. It will feel like magic; we were there and are nowhere.
Like my aunt used to say, “In life, we handle what we must and change what we can.”[Note: She never said she was the first to say it.]
We are now much better at learning how to handle those everyday challenges and what, at times, we grew to feel as daily setbacks turned out to be things we are glad we endured. Yes, we spent many days showing up and working, and our workdays passed quickly. Our thoughts of being conditioned to be comfortable being uncomfortable ended, allowing us an opportunity to let newly acquired skills begin to open many doors and bring us much attention and success.
We might feel like our work is not where we want to be still. But through our work career, we will find that starting in what we felt was the lowest position possible, the slow development of our job skills positioned us where we now can volunteer to be at a higher level. We are getting there by making ourselves available, leaving behind things we liked and felt comfortable doing. We have come to know that getting where we want to be is done only by hard work and risking and learning to love our new selves after holding on to what we know is best to do. Our strength often lies in our stickability as we continue to set goals to move us to where no one else we know has ever been.
Like my aunt used to say, “To get on in the business world, we work for circumstances we want, and if we can not find them, we make them.”
In closing, as we continue developing our skills and knowledge that there is only room for what we believe is more critical, our right thinking will bring good from others as we enjoy our success. In working with others, we are there to give them a little push, and soon we find that they, too, are willing to start doing more for themselves and the path to success gives way for more people to use it. With our continuing deliverance and careful planning, we also now know that no one person can succeed alone without the help of other people.
Like my aunt used to say, “We can cut our worries just about half by distinguishing what is important and what is not.”
